About Becca

Becca is a tenderfoot Holistic Death Guide and self-taught, multimedia Artist based in New England. She also considers herself a “Plant Dabbler” and Folk Herbalist. When she is not creating art or wildcrafting with the local flora, you can find her bringing end-of-life awareness to her community.

She has had a close relationship with death since she was young. Her father’s sudden passing when she was just 9 years old, caused death to be a major part of her life. Becca was also a junior in high school in Newtown, Connecticut, when the Sandy Hook shooting occurred. These two traumatic experiences made it obvious to her that our culture around death is not right and must be talked about. It was not until 2019 when Becca sat bedside with her dying uncle, that she realized she wanted to be of service in some way to people going through similar situations.

In 2020, Becca graduated from Going with Grace, with a certification to become a Death Doula. She now hosts Living Funeral Ceremonies, volunteers with Connecticut Death Collective, and more. She has worked at local funeral homes and with Better Place Forests but is working towards supporting families in building their own personal memorials. Though hands-on experience is invaluable, she believes that going through personal loss is the ultimate teacher and what connects us all in this world of grief and death. She is an advocate for green burial, home funerals, and Compassion & Choices. Becca hopes to weave together her devotion to holistic and accessible death care, with her love for plants, in order to honor the ancestorial ways. “Reflecting on death can have a profound and positive impact not just on how we die, but how we live. In the light of dying, it’s easy to distinguish between the tendencies that lead us toward wholeness, and those that incline us toward separation and suffering.”
